A piece of candy about 7 inches long and 2 incheswide is cut from the batch. It is placed on the canvasand stretched out to about twice its length. The ribboncandy is folded over side by side, doubling the width.Then stretch and fold over again. This procedure isrepeated 3 or 4 times, working very quickly, until athin shiny length of ribbon is obtained. The ribbonshould be 3 feet long. Cut into 6 inch pieces andfold over making up the bows.
Picture above illustrates the bows being pulled. In theforeground are the cut pieces and also the foldedribbons. This same procedure of pulling the ribbonout is used for making the bands that encircle thecake tiers. These bands are made to the desired widthand cut off with a scissors. The ribbon is lifted whilestill soft and put around the cake.
